The God of the Netherlands. Life and Work of Pyke Koch
Puente’s debut book is the first biography of one of the most important Dutch painters of the 20th century, Pyke Koch (1901-1991). For decades, Dutch art historians have struggled to reconcile the artist’s fascism with his enigmatic oeuvre, often opting to dismiss his controversial worldview entirely. But what if that worldview holds the key to understanding his work? In The God of the Netherlands, Puente shares the riveting story of the painter she believes to be Holland’s very own, undiscovered equivalent to Ezra Pound or Louis Ferdinand Céline. (In Dutch)
De God van Nederland will be published by Prometheus Uitgeverij in April 2026. Click the above link to reserve.

Self-portrait with Black Headband by Pyke Koch: A Biographical Interpretation
This journal article presents a new interpretation of Koch’s oeuvre based on my doctoral research and using new archival documents on loan from the Pyke Koch Foundation to the RKD. In it I trace Koch’s ideological and artistic development from his youth through adulthood, and relate these developments to his oeuvre.

Thierry Geoffroy/Colonel: A Propulsive Retrospective
Thierry Geoffroy/Colonel: A Propulsive Retrospective is the first comprehensive monograph of French conceptual artist Thierry Geoffroy, creator of “Emergency Art” and “Format Art”. Geoffroy has been requisitioning art institutions, history and structures to respond in real time to emergencies (climate change, war, migration) since the 1980s. His oeuvre is poignantly relevant for understanding protest art of today and movements like Extinction Rebellion. It is seeped in ideas with far-reaching roots. His humor, wit, ceaseless movement and prolific output make this book a fun, high energy, and inspiring read. (in English)
Published in collaboration with Villa Stuck. Edited by Christian Ganzenberg and with texts by Michael Buhrs, Sebastian Baden, Morton Friis, Elena Hansen, Tijana Mišković, and Susana Puente Matos.
With hundreds of photographs of Geoffroy’s work, this book is sure to provide endless inspiration.
